Erasmus+ Agreements

Erasmus+

The European Union created a new program Erasmus+ (2014-2020) to encourage the exchange of students between EU countries and countries around the world. The Erasmus+ program includes a program entitled "International Credit Mobility" which funds short term student and staff mobility between European and Partner Countries on the basis of inter-institutional agreements.

The Hebrew University has signed agreements with partner EU institutions, enabling students from partner universities an opportunity for international study at the Hebrew University.

The mobility programs are available for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral students for stays of 3–12 months.

Erasmus+ offers scholarships for travel costs and monthly allowances, paid by the EU partner institution.

Benefits For Students:

Joint Programs

Joint Degrees

As part of our ongoing internationalization efforts, the Hebrew University has developed a portfolio of joint degree programs in cooperation with our partner universities worldwide.

Students studying for a joint degree are enrolled at two institutions and divide their study time between them. The research in this track is carried out under the joint guidance of a supervisor from each institution so that the course work is evaluated according to the academic standards of both institutions. Upon graduation, students are eligible for recognition of their degree as either a joint degree from the two international institutions or as two separate degrees, according to the specific program regulations.

Thanks to the close ties between the two  institutions,  students benefit from a diverse and multicultural work and research environment. They are given the opportunity to connect with leading researchers from various institutions and gain a broad international understanding of research processes, which will have a strong impact  on their professional development and their careers in academia and beyond.

The Hebrew University currently offers seven joint degree programs with leading universities in Germany, Singapore, China, Australia, and Israel. The International Office continues expanding the offer of joint degree programs for all students.

The Hebrew University partnership with University of Melbourne is based on collaborative research. The partnership was initiated in 2008 with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding and then renewed in 2018, for the fostering of student exchange and research collaborations.  In 2012 a Joint Research Workshop Grants Program was launched, to enable faculty members from both institutions to hold joint workshops with the goal to foster mutual research and grant submissions.

The partnership was expanded in 2019 with the launch of the Jerusalem-Melbourne Joint PhD Program, open to all academic fields. The new program involves doctoral students working together in a research group that is supervised by both Australian and Israeli faculty. Every year, the two universities jointly publish a call for applications for joint research projects, whereby pairs of researchers representing both the University of Melbourne and the Hebrew University together propose research projects for PhD clusters from both institutions.
